Welcome to Yard Waste Recycling

Allow five to seven days for toter delivery.  Your utility account will be billed a one-time delivery fee of $29.98 and a monthly fee of $12.74 thereafter.   Yard Waste Recycling begins when you get your tote. Your yard waste materials will be collected separately from your garbage every other Monday - year-round.

The pick-up time may vary depending on the amount of yard waste put out for collection, weather conditions, and the number of households participating in the program. Therefore, please have your yard waste toter to the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day.

Yard Waste Materials Accepted:

  • Leaves
  • Grass Clippings
  • Shrub Trimmings & Prunings
  • Brush
  • Vegetation

Materials Not Accepted:

  • Food, Fruit, and Vegetables
  • Pet Manure
  • Sod, Dirt, and Rocks
  • Plastic Bags
  • Rubbish
  • Ashes
  • Garbage
What if my yard waste toter is not large enough? 

We will collect your yard waste materials. Extra yard waste must be put in yard waste toters. Additional toters can be requested for an additional charge.

Do not use plastic bags for yard waste materials these are not accepted at the composting site. Tree and shrub trimmings should be cut to 3' lengths, bundled, and tied with cotton or twine - NO WIRE OR PLASTIC CORD!  The maximum load limits: Yard Waste Toters - 200 lbs.

Thursday, November 24 -Thanksgiving
Sunday, December 25 - Christmas Day

Yard waste collections will be picked up one day late for the balance of a week following a non-worked holiday. Non-worked holidays are those holidays for which Yakima County closes its landfills. Generally, these holidays are July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Holidays and adverse weather conditions may affect your recycling schedule. "X" indicates the holidays when there is no pickup on the Calendar. All pickups will be one day late for the remaining days of that week. Service will remain normal if the holiday falls on a weekend.

What to do on recycling day:

  • The cart should be at the curb by 6 a.m.
  • All items must fit in the cart with the lid closed
  • Lid opening toward street handle toward the house
  • See diagram below for cart distances
  • Remove empty cart from the curb as soon as possible
